Karnataka Government Limits Movie Ticket Prices, Plans Film City In..?

The Karnataka government has decided to limit movie ticket prices to Rs. 200 in all theaters including multiplexes and single screens.

CM Siddaramaiah announced this during the state budget presentation. A similar attempt was made in 2017 but was stopped by the High Court.

The move is expected to benefit Kannada films as many multiplexes prefer screening higher priced non-Kannada movies.

To further support the Kannada film industry the government is launching an official online platform to promote local films.

Additionally, the government reaffirmed its plan to build a world-class Film City in Mysuru, with a budget of Rs. 500 crores.

This project will be developed in partnership with private companies, and land has already been allocated. The government aims to complete it soon.
