Sunjay Kapur a well-known Indian businessman and polo player, passed away at 53 in England on Thursday. He was the former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor.
While playing polo, he reportedly had trouble breathing and stepped off the field only to suffer a fatal heart attack shortly after.
Some reports suggest he may have accidentally swallowed a bee which stung him in the throat and made the attack. He was managing a polo team named Aureus and was playing against Sujan, led by hotelier Jaisal Singh.
Sunjay studied at the Doon School and served as Chairman of Sona Comstar, an auto-tech company with branches in India, the US, China, Mexico, and Serbia, also supplying parts for electric vehicles.
He had two children with Karisma, Samaira and Kiaan, and later married Priya Sachdev. Just before his death, he posted condolences on Twitter for the victims of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad.
