Karan Johar has been looking to sell part of his Dharma Productions for a while. Karan sold a 50% of share in the Production to Serene Productions, owned by Adar Poonawalla. They released an official statement about the deal.
Serene Productions opened up that it has signed an agreement to invest 1000 crores in Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment which is a leading production company in India.
Karan will continue as the Executive Chairman, moving forward with the creative vision, and Apoorva Mehta will serve as the CEO.
Karan has been facing financial difficulties and is looking for investors to help launch new projects.
The Bollywood industry has also seen a rise in box office earnings, but many top production houses are experiencing stress and confusion. At this time, Karan decided to sell the stake to invest more in his upcoming films.
