‘Kantara 2’ Prequel Faces Challenges

Hombale Films’ founder, Vijay Kirgandur, recently shared that Rishab Shetty has embarked on scripting the highly anticipated pan-India blockbuster, Kantara 2. The sequel’s initial segment demands a rain-soaked backdrop, leading to the choice of the monsoon season for filming. However, the film’s pre-production is grappling with substantial delays.

Kantara 2, designed as a prequel to its predecessor, aims to build upon the remarkable success of Kantara. This aspiration for excellence in the sequel has contributed to the prolonged pre-production timeline. Originally scheduled for a June commencement, the shoot was deferred to August, with the goal of a 2024 summer release.

Recent internal accounts indicate a further postponement of the shooting schedule to year-end. The film’s anticipated release is now slated for the latter half of 2024. Kantara initially debuted in Kannada, achieving unexpected success and subsequently gaining releases in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu.

Rishab Shetty, the creator and director, brings this action-thriller to life, deeply rooted in Karnataka’s folklore. The original film starred prominent actors Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, and Pramod Shetty in pivotal roles.
