Suriya had big hopes for “Kanguva” and dedicated nearly two years to the film. However, the big-budget period drama, released on Thursday, failed to meet audience expectations and is heading towards a massive failure.
To address feedback, the team quickly reduced the overly loud sound effects. Now, after the weekend, the film has been trimmed by 12 minutes.
The shorter version will be screened from today’s evening shows worldwide. Despite these efforts, “Kanguva” saw a sharp drop in collections from day two in Tamil Nadu, and the response in Telugu states has been disappointing.
The film’s failure is expected to result in huge losses for everyone involved. Suriya’s hard work seems wasted, as the film, made on a massive budget, hasn’t clicked with audiences.
“Kanguva” was produced by UV Creations and Studio Green, directed by Siva, with Disha Patani as the heroine. Bobby Deol played the main villain, and Devi Sri Prasad composed the music and background score for this period action drama.
