Director Krish got an unique reputation that he can handle the historical subjects better than many contemporary directors. His Kanche, with second world war backdrop and Gautamiputra Satakarni, with first century backdrop, gained him such fans. And the director seems to have grown even more fond of historical legendary characters and he has been planning to make Rani Lakshmibai biopic with Kangana Ranaut.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has a knack in making historicals and currently facing troubles for Padmavathi, will be producing the movie in Hindi. Interesting thing about the project is that Krish has replaced Ketan Mehta, the senior director who made Mangal Pandey with Aamir Khan. Krish also brought in Bahubali and Bhajarangi Bhaijaan story writer, Vijayendra Prasad into the project to fine tune the existing script. The film is know titled Manikarnika, as per the sources.
The problem for Ketan Mehta came with Kangana growing too keen to have her say in the films. The actress allegedly faught with Vishal Bharadwaj on the sets of Rangoon to have her way and since, she was the producer in Hindi, she wanted to participate in the script development and look over the direction as well. This did not sit well with Ketan Mehta and the project landed up in the hands of Krish. How will Krish combat the strong desire of Kangana Ranaut to have her say and make his movie? This is the most interesting development for all the Hindi media, now-a-days!
