Oh My God! The movie adaptation of play Kanji versus Kanha became highly popular due to Paresh Rawal’s masterly performance as Kanji and Akshay Kumar as Lord Krishna. The movie has been treated as a classic among the movie lovers. It has found it’s way into Southern Languages as well to be remade with popular stars like Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh, first as Gopala Gopala in Telugu and Sudeepa, Upendra as Mukunda Murari in Kannada.
Now, the movie is going to Tamil and Malayalam with Kamal Haasan as the person who fights against God and Mohan Lal as God himself. Raj Kamal International, Kamal Haasan’s own production house has bagged the rights of the movie, Oh My God and they are planning to remake it. The movie if Mohan Lal accepts to the offer will start from next month and release by the middle of next year.
Sources in the know have said that Kamal Haasan liked the idea very much and developed a script around it with his team of writers and it came out well. He has sent the same script to Mohan Lal and awaiting his reply about starring in the movie. Kamal Haasan is busy finishing his long delayed sequel, Vishwaroopam 2 to release in three languages and also, Sebhash Naidu will also release by the end of this year. Mohan Lal is busy with multiple projects in Malayalam. Interstingly, they both have come together for Unnaipol Oruvan before, a remake of A Wednesday, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher. Let’s see if both the great actors will once again give us treat on screen with colliding ideals.
