Kamal, who provided vocal assistance for Ponniyin Selvan 2 by Ratnam, wrote on Twitter: “My dear #ManiRatnam you are going to be a much older man today if one were to count life by the happiness that they create around them and if age is calculated by the friends around you.”

In addition, Kamal Haasan tweeted, “You have consistently pushed the boundaries of cinema without regard to the magnitude of the challenge by always learning. Your legacy will continue to resonate forever through the next generation of filmmakers you are inspiring now.
“Our journey together, from Nayakan to #KH234, has been personally fulfilling and enlightening for me. Many more pleasant returns of the day to you, my buddy, and many more to come! #HappyBirthdayManiRatnam.
