Kamal Haasan has landed in controversy after a remark he made about actress Trisha during a promotional interview for their upcoming film Thug Life directed by Mani Ratnam. The film which also stars Simbu, is set for a June release, and the team has begun giving interviews to promote it.
During one such interview, Trisha mentioned that she enjoys eating boiled banana but couldn’t recall its Tamil name (pazham pori).
In response Kamal jokingly said “She does not know the name but likes putting it in her mouth” and lightly tapped her knee.
The comment quickly sparked backlash everywhere with many calling it inappropriate and suggestive.
Critics labeled the joke as vulgar while Kamal fans defended him saying it was a light hearted comment with no bad intention and was meant to be humorous about the language not disrespectful towards Trisha.
