At the pre-release event of Thug Life in Visakhapatnam, Kamal Haasan became emotional while speaking about his strong bond with the city.
He recalled filming Maro Charitra there in the 1970s a movie that gave him a cult following in Telugu cinema. After its success, many Telugu people assumed he was a native of Vizag.
“They used to call Vizag my hometown and I didn’t have the heart to correct them,” he said, touched by the love he received.
Kamal also shared how Telugu audiences celebrated his success in Bollywood with Ek Duje Ke Liye and how he filmed Sagara Sangamam and Subha Sankalpam in Vizag and nearby areas. He said Vizag always felt like home to him and called it his “Kala Kshetra”.
Kamal reminded fans that he has made 16 Telugu films, with 13 major hits, and promised to keep delivering quality cinema, thanking the audience for their endless support.
