When discussing salary equity, Kajol references Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan once more, giving the impression that she has landed in another pool.
A few days ago, Kajol’s quip about Pathaan collection caused a stir. She added that she wants to question Shah Rukh Khan about the true box office earnings of his movie. Many people were offended by the comment and wondered if she was hinting at the figure being overstated. She’s now in trouble once more since she brought up wage parity while dragging the Siddharth Anand film once more.
In the past, several actresses have fought for salary parity with their male counterparts. Unfortunate reaction was directed at Kareena Kapoor Khan for supposedly wanting a large fee to play Sita in the Ramayana. Priyanka Chopra Jonas also discussed how she battled for years before receiving the same compensation as Richard Madden, her co-star in the Russo Brothers film Citadel. Recently, Deepika Padukone admitted that she had turned down a film because the producers had to “accommodate the male lead” because she wasn’t paid equally.
When asked about wage equality at the Delhi Jagran Film Festival, Kajol replied, “Perhaps there will be pay equality when you start making a ‘Wonder Woman’ for India and it does as well as a ‘Pathaan’.”
Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has once again attracted attention. It should be emphasised, however, that Kajol was just alluding to the huge expense Siddharth Anand incurred in producing the action movie, which went on to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2023.
It cannot be denied that the situation is slowly evolving. The first female superhero in Bollywood will soon be Katrina Kaif. In contrast, Deepika Padukone will play the Lady Singham in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe.
