Telugu Legendary filmmaker and director of classics like Swayam Krushi, Sagara Sangamam, Chelleli Kapuram, Saptapadi, Sirivennela, Siri Siri Muvva, Shankarabharanam and many more announced his retirement from direction recently, after being conferred with Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The director after making Subhapradam did not direct another movie and confined himself to acting in movies.

Apparently, the great filmmaker made a statement about no longer being in the mood to direct another movie through the following statement. “People have given me enough love and respect. I don’t have any plans of directing a movie again.. as I don’t have enough curiosity or patience to do that. I should retire respectfully now.”

After making many many movies that Telugu Cinema and Indian Cinema can be proud off with arts and culture as main themes, this seems to be a sensitive move on his part. We applaud the great man’s efforts in taking Telugu Cinema on a higher pedestal and congratulate on his illustrious career of a life time. We also wish him great health and long career as an actor as well.
