In a show Radhika Apte shared her experiences during pregnancy, revealing the emotional struggles she faced.
She had kept her pregnancy private until the red carpet premiere of her film Sister Midnight. After announcing the news she saw a huge difference in how people treated her in Indian and international projects.
In India one producer reacted coldly forced her to wear tight clothes despite her discomfort and didn’t even let her see a doctor when she felt unwell.
She was hurt by the lack of empathy. On the other hand a Hollywood director was extremely supportive telling her it was okay if she looked different because she was pregnant.
She also said she never expected special treatment but just basic kindness. Her story lit up the urgent need for the film industry to be more inclusive and empathetic towards working mothers.
