Srinivas Reddy started off his career from Television and slowly became a part of Telugu films with his unique comic timing and sense of humour. He is regarded to be off the league of comedians like Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, AVS, Ali and Brahmanandam. His prowess in Mim and mimicry are said to be off standard off Rajendra Prasad, the ace actor. He with Gitanjali, became a leading man who can entertain audience with a script oriented film. After that movie, he waited long to release his next movie has a lead and did many comic characters in movies like A..Aa. He said even if he is accepted as a lead actor, he would not leave his characters.
After long, he released Jayammu Nischayammura directed and produced by young, Shiva Raj Kanumuri. The movie is the story of young government job seeker, Sarva Mangalam who believes in Swamijis more than himself. The story unfolds his weaknesses and the problem he faces due to them and how he conquered them and attained his lady love, Rani, played by Poorna. The actor, Srinivas Reddy dug into the character and delivered his career best performance. But Shiva Raj, being a first time director, did not understand the pacing issues very well. The movie got favourable reviews from critics but the talk from general audience was not that generous.
Apparently, the movie was sold to N Krishna Reddy, the producer of Vikram’s Inkokadu, for 7 crores. But with the aggressive promotions and events, the costs increased by 50 lakhs more. The figures aren’t been confirmed by the producers, so they could remain a speculation. But whatever, could be the amount, with Demonetization issue and general weak talk, the movie finding it tough to recover the costs and if the trend continues, the movie might be removed from the theatres within a week. The satellite deal is also not that encouraging and movie needs a good theatrical run.
The makers after a huge premier event, did take the feedback and trimmed the movie by 15 minutes, bringing the 2 hrs 43 minutes run time to 2 hrs 25 minutes. But still the damage has been done with the new prints being released after first day morning shows. So, even though the young team managed to make a decent effort, they failed to make it work at the box office even with aggressive promotions. For such an old themed stories, a crisp run time would have helped it’s cause big time!
