Javed Akhtar has always clearly said that he is an atheist. Recently a misleading video has been circulated showing Javed Akhtar wearing a cap and falsely suggesting that he has embraced Islam. The video has caused confusion and is being seen as damaging.
Javed is very much upset about this incident. Reacting strongly he questioned who was behind such acts and said that religious belief is a deeply personal matter.
He explained that faith is a private connection between a person and God and in his case that he does not believe in God. He also asked who had the right to create false links between him and religion.
Taking the issue seriously Javed has decided to take strict legal action against those responsible for spreading the video. He said such mischief should not be ignored as letting it go only encourages people to repeat such actions.
