January ends on a dull note for Tollywood

In December 2021, 2022 held a lot of hopes for Tollywood, with RRR and Radhe Shyam set to release for Sankranthi. However, things turned out to be different, as neither RRR nor Radhe Shyam was released as per their schedule, due to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the country. While RRR is currently scheduled to release on March 25th, Radhe Shyam’s release date is yet to be announced.

The films that finally ended up releasing in January turned out to be Rowdy Boys, Hero, Super Machi and Bangarraju. While Bangarraju managed to get in decent revenues, thanks to its star power and the fact that it is a sequel to the superhit Soggade Chinni Nayana, Rowdy Boys, Hero and Super Machi turned out to be major duds at the box office.

On the whole, though, 2022 started out on a dull note, and January ended on the same note too, a complete contrast to the way January 2021 started. Here’s hoping that things get better from February, for Tollywood.
