Malayalam film Jallikattu has been selected as India’s official entry to Oscars in the category of Best International Feature Film. The movie is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, Chemban Vinod Jose, Antony Varghese, Sabumon Abdusamad, and Santhy Balachandran have played the lead roles in the movie.
Released in 2019, the film has collected a huge share of Rs. 20 Crore while the film was made on a budget of Rs. 3 Crores. Jallikattu was made on inspiring from real incidents from the bull-taming event that happens in Tamil Nadu. Jallikattu has been selected over 27 other Indian movies. Some of them include Gunjan Saxena, Bulbul, Kaamyaab, The Disciple, Shakuntala Devi, Shikara, Chhapaak, AK vs AK, Gulabo Sitabo, Bhonsle, Chhalaang, Eeb Allay Ooo!, Atkin Chatkan, Serious Men, Check Post The Sky is Pink, Chintu ka Birthday and Bittersweet.
Oscars event next year will be held on 25th April.
