Bollywood celebrities including Amit Sharma, Vikram Aditya Motwane, and Janhvi Kapoor will be spotted at THFF.
Amit Sharma, Vikram Aditya Motwane, and Janhvi Kapoor, among many others, will be present to attend and conduct workshops at the second Himalayan Film Festival (THFF).
The dates for THFF are September 29 to October 3.
Janhvi Kapoor said: “The Himalayan Film Festival is a great way for filmmakers from the Himalayan regions to showcase their talent and learn from industry experts. The festival will also provide an opportunity for viewers to see a variety of films and interact with filmmakers from across the country!”
The more we spread cinema around the nation, the better it is for everyone, said Motwane, whose webseries “Jubilee” will be played during the festival and who will also be teaching a workshop.
Along with the variety of films that the festival will screen over the course of five days, the festival’s attractions also include the Screenwriters Lab, Short Film Competition, Photography Workshop, and Masterclasses, all of which were curated by experts from the Indian film industry.
The second iteration of THFF will also be attended by Rima Das, Dominic Megam Sangma, and Kenny Deori Basumatary.
Speaking about the second iteration of the THFF, Padma Angmo, Commissioner/Secretary, Information, Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, said: “The primary aim of organising the festival is to provide a platform to local Ladakhi filmmakers to showcase their films, to encourage local talent, build their capacity, connect them to experts and the market. Although it is a small community, it is highly vibrant and innovative.
“I’m happy that The Himalayan Film Festival is doing just that for Ladakh, a place I dearly love and have called my second home for the past five to six years,” said Achal Mishra, who is in charge of the Photography Workshop.
‘Tora’s Husband’ director Rima Das stated, ‘India is such a diverse country with so many amazing stories remaining undeveloped and unexplored. I am really pleased that The Himalayan Film Festival is establishing a venue to support aspiring filmmakers, exposing them to many genres of films, and develop their potential.
“Films from Himalayan regions hardly get represented in mainstream cinema, but festivals like this give that opportunity to showcase the works from this region,” said filmmaker Dominic Megam Sangma, who is on the jury for the Short Film Competition. Anyone who enjoys or wants to make films should make the most of this event by attending all the events, making connections, and networking.
Film festival competitions let one get a sense of “kaun kitne paani mein hai,” according to actor and filmmaker Kenny Deori Basumatary, whose movie “Local Utpaat” will be exhibited at the festival. Additionally, sessions with industry experts are crucial because we learn valuable information from working individuals.
Filmmaker and screenwriter Satyanshu Singh, who will serve as mentor at the Himalayan Film Festival’s 2023 Screenwriters Lab, expressed his happiness at the opportunity. Local filmmakers can polish their craft through workshops and masterclasses in a supportive environment. The festival is planned to showcase films from all around the nation, which will be a pleasure for moviegoers.
The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh and the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh collaborate to host the THFF.
