Is Vijay Deverakonda overconfident on Liger?

Yesterday, news came out hero Vijay Deverakonda and director Puri Jagannadh’s most awaited movie, Liger got a massive Rs 200 crore offer from one of the digital streaming platforms. Though the makers have not reacted to the news, Vijay Deverakonda last night took to Twitter and responding to the viral news.

In his tweet, Vijay shared the same news and wrote “Too little. I’ll do more in the theaters”. Though the tweet has instantly grabbed the attention of the netizens and Rowdy fans, as a fact check, to date, Vijay Deverakonda has only one Rs 100 crore gross movie in the form of the 2018 film, Geetha Govindam. Adding to it, all the film’s released post-Geetha Govindam failed to generate good revenues at the ticket windows. In one word, Vijay is doing a daring attempt with Liger which is being made as a pan-India project.

On the other hand, the film director Puri Jagan faced several failures before the 2019 film, Ismart Shankar and has very limited access in other languages and is yet to prove his mettle as a pan-India director. Considering all the above aspects, Vijay’s statement looks far from reality and has been getting backlash from a section of the audience. Blasting all the boundaries, will Puri and Vijay Deverakonda manage to deliver a homogenous success with Liger? Remains to be seen.

Starring Bollywood starlet Ananya Panday in the female lead role, Liger’s shoot is expected to resume soon. Charmme and Puri Jagan in association with Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar are producing Liger which will have a release in all South languages along with Hindi.
