Star director SS Rajamouli’s pre-independence patriotic drama, RRR starring NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles went on to become a huge success at the box office. As per the trade reports, RRR collected close to Rs 1200 crore gross by the end of its full run in domestic Indian markets and overseas.
It is already reported that recently on October 21st, RRR had a theatrical release in Japan. To promote the film in Japan, Rajamouli along with Ram Charan and NTR landed in the country. As per the inside reports, the RRR team has spent a bomb on Japanese promotions. A few clips of NTR speaking in Japanese language and the audience there dancing to Naatu Naatu song came out and circulated widely on social media.
As per the reports, RRR should collect ¥400 dollars at the Japanese box office to achieve break-even status. Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that to date, RRR collected only 740K in Japanese currency. Considering the current momentum, will the film be able to emerge as a winner at the Japanese box office? Remains to be seen.
A couple of weeks back we reported that the top three Indian films in Japan are Rajinikanth’s Muthu, Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, and Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots.
