Kamal Haasan announces Rs 1 crore to the kin of deceased

It was indeed a black day for Kollywood on February 20 as the world woke up the tragic news of the demise of three people on the sets of Indian 2. Directed by Shankar, the film, which is a sequel to the hit film of the same name stars Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet. On the night of February 19, the team of Indian 2 was shooting at the set erected at the EVP Studios in Chennai. A crane crashed on a few people leaving three dead. Kamal Haasan paid his last respects to the deceased and announced that he’d give Rs 1 crore to the family of the dead. He further added that it is not compensation to the lives lost.

Subaskaran of Lyca Productions and director Shankar visited the morgue to pay their condolences. The producer announced Rs 2 crore compensation for those who lost their lives in the tragic accident. Sri Krishna, Madhu and Chandran are the three people who died on the sets of Indian 2 after the heavy-duty crane crashed on them. According to Saveetha Hospital’s press release, 3 people were brought dead while 11 people were treated as outpatients for minor injuries. Another person, who is rumoured to be critical has been shifted to a different hospital for treatment. There is no news on his condition as of now.
