Ilayaraja, the legendary composer, started his career as a troupe member playing instruments for the legendary singer SP Balasubramanyam in his early days. Ilayaraja after becoming a composer, even announced at several occasions on stage, that he would pay anything to listen to Balu sing his songs. But all that love seems to have vanished in the thin air as Isaignani, sent legal notices to SPB50 organisers and troupe members accusing them of reproducing his songs at concerts without prior permission.

This came as a shock to the organisers and SPB, himself. But the graceful singer took to his social media page to announce the matter and cleared that he would refrain from singing Ilayaraja’s songs in his US tour any further. He also expressed his surprise over the sudden legal issue after their troupe performed at different nations like Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, Sri Lanka and many more places all over India as well. He was puzzled at why all of sudden in the US leg, he had been served such notices.

However, he refrained from making any harsh comments on the composer and with a pinch of hurt, announced that in his 50 years of career he sang enough number of songs of other composers that he and his troupe will stop performing Ilayaraja’s songs any further. He also requested his fans to not have any harsh debates on the issue. What could have possibly happened between the composer and singer, who were symbol of friendship in the music industry?
