A bomb threat email sent to Ilaiyaraaja’s studio in T. Nagar, Chennai caused a major security alert. The email which also reached the Director General of Police office claimed that an explosive had been placed in the studio.
Police including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and sniffer dogs quickly rushed to the place and conducted a search.
They later confirmed that the threat was a hoax. This incident is part of a series of similar fake bomb threats sent to several VIPs and public figures in Chennai in recent weeks.
Previously, many received threats. Authorities are now working hard to trace the sender. The Cyber Crime and City Police teams have launched a detailed investigation.
Recently, two individuals were arrested for sending similar hoax threats to public figures and places in the city.
