Aditya Roy Kapur Stars as Identical Suspects in This Intriguing Murder Mystery in the Gumraah Trailer

When the police in Gumraah have a photo of their murder suspect, they believe they have a clear case. However, they are in for a rude surprise, and their case falls apart when they discover two identical men as suspects. Aditya Roy Kapur plays two roles for the first time in his career. Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Bose play the police officers on the hunt for the two suspects. Which one is lying, and which is telling the truth? The Gumraah trailer suggests retribution for one or both of them.

Mrunal Thakur shared the film’s trailer on Instagram, writing, “Har kahani ke do pehlu hote hain, Sach aur Jhooth; lekin iss kahani ke pehlu hote hain Gunaah aur Gumraah (Every story has two sides, truth and lies, but in this story, there is a crime and one who is lost)!”

Actual events are said to have inspired the suspense drama. The suspects are also diametrically opposed. The first is polished and respectable, while the second is a thug with a short fuse. Much of the film also appears to revolve around the police questioning the two suspects as they attempt to solve the brutal murder of a young man. Vardhan Ketkar, a first-time filmmaker, has previously worked on films such as Brothers (2015), Kapoor & Sons (2016), and Mubarakan (2017). Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios are producing Gumraah. It is a Hindi remake of the Tamil hit Thadam, which starred Arun Vijay and Vidya Pradeep in 2019. On April 7, 2023, the thriller will be released in theatres.

Aditya was recently seen alongside Anil Kapoor in the Hindi adaptation of the BBC series The Night Manager. He portrayed an ex-soldier and hotel worker recruited to take down a notorious arms dealer. Mrunal, who made a cameo appearance in Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee last month, was most recently seen in Dulquer Salmaan’s Telugu hit Sita Raman (2022).
