“I Was Branded A Failure”: PT Selvakumar’s Emotional Revelation

Vijay’s former manager and well-known producer PT Selvakumar recently opened up about the struggles he faced during the release of the film Puli.

Speaking at an event, he revealed that an Income Tax raid happened just a day before the film’s release, which he believes was a planned conspiracy by people close to him. Rumors spread that the movie would not release, causing him huge stress and humiliation.

Selvakumar said he had invested 27 years of effort into that one film and was determined to release it even if he had to sell his assets.

Though Puli finally made it to theaters the response was very negative. Audiences mocked the story, graphics, and dialogues, and many even walked out of theatres.

The failure deeply hurt him, and he felt abandoned, even distanced from Vijay. While Vijay’s career only grew stronger after Puli, Selvakumar was branded a failure which left him heartbroken.
