Samantha Akkineni started her journey with a strong character like Jessi in a well-made film like Ye Maaya Chesave. She built on it really so well that she is now in a position where she can ask for a director to write a script with her character being one of the strong pillars in the film.
Her recent films, Rangasthalam, Mahanati, proved that she is looking for substantial roles in the films and is not in a hurry to take up many projects. Still, she is the most busiest actress in South India today, among the ones, who completed 10 years and still going strong. Recently, due to her film choices and also few statements that indicate she is not looking at regular commercial cinema, many thought she is looking at parallel cinema these days.
The actress said that would be a wrong assumption. She said, “I mostly enjoy commercial films. I think a good commercial film will always balance the characters and in such movies, heroines will also find strong characters. No longer, people can just randomly say that there are no actresses in South India. Many proved themselves and I would be happy to see all of them getting strong roles, not just me.”
