indraganti Mohankrishna has a career graph that is enviable to many and the director did not hesitate to make a different movie after he met with success with one kind of a story. He chose to make a fantasy comedy, Mayabazar after Grahanam and then made, Astha Chemma that established the careers of his leads and gave himself a reputation for clean comedies. The director has come up with another clean comedy after a thrilling Gentleman, with Ami Thumi. The movie became a hit and the director is happy with the audience verdict.
The director said, “ I won’t be doing the same story all the time and Ami Thumi has been completely different from Gentleman. The movie did not need stars, so I went ahead with actors who don’t have any image and that worked. I’m being praised for my one-liners and clean comedy in the movie. I’m thankful that in a day and age where writers are not respected, I am able to earn that respect for a movie, I directed.
“I’m also thrilled with the response as we believed in story and music more than CG and other tricks for the movie. We did not shoot even one day in front of green matte for the movie and I’m proud of that fact. Multiplex comedies, is not a genre and if people tend to give such a name to clean comedies, I gladly accept that. I can’t wrote vulgar comedy as it is easy to do and I want to write clean entertainers further too. My next won’t be another comedy and I’m writing a romantic story for that. Soon, I will divulge all the details!”
