Hrithik Roshan was reportedly considered to play Ravana in director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana before the makers approached Yash for the role.
However, Hrithik did not accept the offer, reportedly because he wanted to avoid playing another character with strong negative shades.
The makers wanted a popular actor for Ravana, one of the epic’s key characters.
Yash eventually joined the project and is said to be interested in exploring the character’s different shades rather than portraying him as a regular villain.
Hrithik had earlier played characters with grey shades in Vikram Vedha and War. Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The film’s first part will release in theatres on November 5, 2026.
