Passionate filmmaker Gunasekhar’s ambitious pan-India mythological magnum opus, Shaakuntalam starring Samantha which is scheduled for a February 17th release is postponed indefinitely. An official announcement regarding the film’s postponed came out this afternoon from the team.
Regarding the postponement, we had already reported a few days back. Now, the latest reports from our sources suggest that Shaakuntalam will now release on April 14th. An official announcement for the same is likely to be out shortly. It is widely known that earlier, the makers announced that the film will hit the screens in November 2022, but postponed the release to February. As we reported, the film is now gearing up for a summer release.
Star hero Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha is making her silver screen debut as Prince Bharata in the film. Shaakuntalam is based on a popular play Abhigyanam Shakuntalam by Kalidasa, Shaakuntalam is aiming for a simultaneous release in Telugu, Hindi, and other South languages.
Also starring Malayalam actor Dev Mohan, and senior artists such as Mohan Babu among others in key roles, Shaakuntalam is made in 3D format. Gunasekhar’s daughter Neelima Guna is turning producer with this ambitious poetic romance drama. Dil Raju is presenting it. The film also has Gautami, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla in supporting roles. Mani Sharma is the music composer.
