Haq Gets Legal Green Light For Release

In a big update before its release, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed a petition by Siddiqua Begum, who claimed to be the daughter of Shah Bano, seeking to stop the release of Haq.

She argued that the film used her mother’s story without the family’s permission. The court, however, ruled that privacy or reputation ends after a person’s death and cannot be inherited.

The makers clarified that Haq is not a biography but a fictional story inspired by the famous 1985 Supreme Court judgment involving Shah Bano.

The film also includes a disclaimer stating it is dramatized and adapted from the book Bano Bharat Ki Beti by Jigna Vora.

The court further noted that since the case details are public records, the film doesn’t violate any privacy rights. With this verdict, Haq is now set for its theatrical release on November 7.
