HanuMan is the first release of this Sankranthi season 2024 and has been released with massive hype. The makers are so confident that they aired paid premieres a day in advance. Directed by Prashanth Varma, Teja Sajja plays the main lead in this film. Let’s review it here.

Story: In the town of Anjanadri, Hanuman (Teja Sajja) engages in petty thefts, all while enduring the curses of his elder sister. His sole motivation is to rescue his beloved Meenakshi (Amrita Iyer). During a critical moment in his life, Hanuman discovers a divine pearl. Empowered by this mystical gem, which bestows immense strength upon him at sunrise, Hanuman takes on the oppressive Julundari system in Anjanadri, ushering in better days for the village. Unexpectedly, Michael (Vinay Rai) enters Anjanadri, embarking on a journey to uncover the source of Hanuman’s extraordinary power. What challenges will Michael’s quest pose for Anjanadri, and what led Hanuman to possess the divine pearl? The answers to these compelling questions form the crux of HanuMan.

Performances: Teja Sajja has convincingly showcased his acting prowess, dispelling any doubts about his suitability for this genre of films. He skillfully navigated through a range of emotions, seamlessly portraying love, pain, anger, and humor. The elevation of heroism in the fight scenes, particularly through his expressive eyes, is truly commendable. Vinay Rai’s performance brings the character to life with his compelling act.

Amrita Iyer not only captivates with her beauty but also delivers a noteworthy acting performance. Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar brings depth to her role, showcasing genuine and compelling emotions throughout the movie. Samuthirakani, after a considerable hiatus, takes on a meaningful role in this film.

Technical Aspects: It’s truly astonishing to see Hanuman incorporate graphics that provide a realistic feel typically associated with Hollywood productions and that too on a low budget. The standout feature of this film lies in its exceptional graphic work. Particularly noteworthy is the depiction of Anjaneyaswamy in the last 10 minutes, an awe-inspiring moment that sends shivers down the spine. Achieving this level of quality on a modest budget is a rarity. For the sheer excellence in graphics, watching this movie in the theater is a must. The BGM, camera work, and visuals only enhance the film to another level. The fights are cool and the thrills have been executed nicely. The dialogue is also quite good.

Analysis: Director Prashant Varma’s unconventional presentation of a simple storyline is praiseworthy. The film’s appeal across all age groups, from children to adults and the elderly, is notable, thanks to the director’s skillful handling of straightforward emotions. The writing of hero elevations is also commendable.

While the film holds great potential, addressing the lag issue by trimming it by 15 minutes could undoubtedly propel it to blockbuster status. The way the drama is presented intriguingly holds our attention till the end. The entertainment is narrated in a gripping manner. The film has comedy, drama, great visuals, and clean emotions that hold your attention.

The youth will connect with the film and director Prasanth Varma has made sure he showcases his brilliance with the narration. He does not beat around the bush and gives what he promised in all his interviews, a great experience. The actors and their performances hold your attention till the end and make up for an enjoyable experience.

In the final 10 minutes, the portrayal of Anjaneyaswamy is a masterstroke, leaving a lasting impact. The lead given for the sequel, “Jai Hanuman,” hints at a promising continuation, reaching a level comparable to Nabhu. Prashant Varma’s directorial prowess sees a remarkable tenfold increase with this film.

Verdict: Overall, HanuMan lives up to all the hype created and ends up as an enjoyable entertainer. Prashanth Varma will go to the big league of directors with this film which is rich in content and entertainment. Barring the slightly lengthy runtime, HanuMan is a film that should be watched with the entire family.

Bottom Line – A super hero with biz size entertainment
