Social media scams can fool anyone, even celebrities and the latest victim is Tamil music composer GV Prakash Kumar.
Reports say a scammer on X emotionally convinced him to send money by claiming that the scammer’s mother had passed away and funds were needed for rituals. Moved by the message GV Prakash quickly sent Rs. 20,000.
Later users exposed the fraud by pointing out that the photo used was an old image taken from the internet and the woman in the picture had actually died in 2022.
Screenshots of the money transfer also surfaced online confirming the scam. Prakash is known for being kind and helpful often responding to fans in need.
While the loss is not big, the incident serves as a warning to everyone to verify facts before sending money online, especially in emotional situations like death or emergencies.
