Guntur Kaaram is a special film as Mahesh Babu has teamed up with star director Trivikram after a long gap. The action drama has been released on a massive note worldwide. Let’s review it here.

Story: Vasundhara(Ramya Krishna) is a strong minister and the daughter of Vyra Venkata Swamy (Prakash Raj). She gets a divorce from Satyam (Jayaram) and later marries Rao Ramesh. What’s interesting is that she keeps her older son, Ramana (Mahesh Babu), away from the family. As the story unfolds, Venkata Swamy and his friends try to force Ramana into signing a paper giving up any rights to the family’s wealth. The story mainly focuses on how Ramana cleverly deals with these pressure tactics.

Performances: Mahesh Babu delivers his career-best performance with this film. He is at ease in his character Ramana and plays it to the galleries like never before. His dances, fights, and dialogue delivery are at their peak and will be loved by the fans big time. Ramya Krishna is okay in her key role. A few scenes between her and Mahesh have come out well. Jayaram is decent in his role but Prakash Raj holds our attention with his negative act. Sreeleela is amazing in all the songs and looks lovely alongside Mahesh Babu. Meenakshi Chaudhary is also okay in her role.

Technical Aspects: The production values of the film could have been a lot better. One can clearly understand that the film has been rushed for a festive release. The re-recording is rushed and the set work is also just about okay. The lavishness that is a must in all Trivikram films is missing here. Thaman has been disappointed once again with the music. Only two songs click in the entire album. His BGM was good though. The camera work and editing are not that great. The screenplay is flat for the second half and scenes get repeated and the story does not move you emotions-wise.

Analysis: Guntur Kaaram is an out-and-out Mahesh Babu film. He has breathed fire into his character and fans will love his new avatar. But when it comes to drama and emotions, the Trivikram mark is missing in the film. So much is expected of this combo but it fails to deliver the punch.

Trivikram has made this film like a perfect festival watch with songs and fights. If you go in to enjoy the film in that mood, you will like Guntur Kaaram. But if you start expecting Trivikram’s class, then Guntur Kaaram is not for you. Guntur Kaaram initially sets the stage as a family-oriented narrative, a departure from the typical commercial films of leading heroes.

However, this promising start fades away as the story unfolds. The first half relies heavily on Mahesh’s character, providing some entertainment. Unfortunately, the second half feels lacking and leaves much to be desired. Guntur Kaaram suffers from a thin plot and a lackluster narrative. Mahesh Babu’s performance stands out as the only redeeming factor.

While some comedic moments in both halves manage to land, the overall impact falls short. Trivikram’s usually strong suits, including dialogues and emotional depth, seem to miss the mark this time. But the fans have so much to cheer as Mahesh keeps them on his toes with his comedy, dialogue delivery, and action blocks which he does with a lot of ease.

Verdict: Overall, Guntur Kaaram is an average commercial film for this Sankranth1 2024. While Mahesh gives his career best and holds your attention, the emotions are dull. This one is for the fans and mass movie lovers.

Bottom Line: Mahesh Babu’s show all the way
