Guduputani starring Sapthagiri, Raghu Kunche and Neha Solanki in the key roles has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story: The film opens with a temple heist episode done by Raghu Kunche’s gang. Later, the proceedings lead to the introduction of Giri(Sapthagiri), a coward by nature. Being non-courageous, Giri manages to impress a beautiful girl named Siri (Neha Solanki) and they both decide to marry. For their wedding, the pair lands in an ancient temple in the city outskirts and this is the time Raghu Kunche’s gang comes to steal jewellery in temple premises. To know the key twists in the plotline, we have to watch the film in theatres near you.
Performances: Sapthagiri is impressive with his energetic screen presence. He tried to bring depth to the proceedings with his performance. Heroine Neha Solanki is glamorous on-screen and her chemistry with Sapthagiri is showcased in a decent manner.
The singer turned actor Raghu Kunche gave a convincing performance in the negative shaded character. Noted character artists Prabhu and Ananth are okay in their respective negative roles.
Technicalities: Music by Pratap Vidyasagar is adequate. While the film has one pub song, his background score in the crucial second half is apt for the setup created.
The cinematography by Pavan Chenna is okay as he tried to present the night mood shots in an effective manner in this temple heist film. Editing by Bonthala Nageswara is okay as he kept the runtimes within the limits by avoiding unnecessary scenes.
Production values for this limited budget film by Parupati Srinivas Reddy and Katari Ramesh Yadav’s joint venture are good.
Analysis: KM Kumar directs Guduputani. While Kumar’s idea of making a film based on temple robberies is appreciable, his narration has a few cliches.
Instead of wasting time in the first half with some establishment scenes on Sapthagiri, the director would have focused on writing a brisk scene order but still managed to generate curiosity with the proceedings in the second half.
In one word, Guduputani is a serious drama that runs on the temple heist concept. As the film is a suspenseful drama, those who expect comedy scenes from Sapthagiri will be disappointed completely. All we suggest the makers is to promote the film accordingly to get decent revenues during this Christmas festival weekend.
