With Aadarsha Kutumbam out of the race, small films like Good Time got a chance to attract audiences. The film created some buzz with its promotional content. Let’s see how it fares.

Good Time Story: Johnny (Nikhil Gajula), a middle-class cab driver, wastes his earnings on betting and borrows money to buy expensive gifts for his girlfriend, Nischala (Anyuktha Nallani). When his lender Ganga demands repayment, Johnny and his mother face serious financial problems. How they overcome these struggles and how Rukmini (Soundarya Lahari) changes Johnny’s life forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Nikhil Gajula impresses with his natural performance, while Anyuktha makes a good debut. Sunitha Manohar stands out as the hero’s mother. Gemini Suresh’s Telangana slang feels unsuitable, while Soundarya Lahari, M.S. Hari and the supporting cast deliver decent performances.

Technical Aspects: Good Time joins the growing list of films set in Hyderabad, following titles like Falaknuma Das, Ameer Log and The Paradise. Director Chanakya Jilla focuses on Gen Z issues such as gambling, spending beyond one’s means to impress girls, and drug addiction. The first half is engaging and entertaining, but the second half loses its way.

The bike racing climax lacks a proper conclusion, while Rukmini’s track and the philosophy shared by her father offer a satisfying touch. The film stands out for its quality cinematography and music. However, trimming the second half and fixing the climax could improve the overall experience, especially in the OTT version.

Analysis: Audiences who watch Good Time without high expectations may find it somewhat entertaining. The first half is decent, but the second half could have been better. The film may receive more appreciation after its OTT release.

Verdict: A decent first half and good performances make Good Time watchable, though the uneven second half holds it back.

Bottom Line: Watchable, But Not Consistent.
