After the trailer launch of Nishaanchi which marks Aaishvary Thackeray’s debut, Aaliyah Kashyap voiced her frustration on Instagram.
She criticized audiences for claiming they want ‘good cinema’ but failing to support such films in theatres. Referring to movies like Dhadak 2, she said people often ignore them on release but later call them cult classics or hidden gems.
Encouraging viewers to support Nishaanchi which releases on September 19th, Aaliyah said she has seen firsthand the love and hard work the team invested. She stressed that impactful films need to be appreciated at the time of release not years later.
In another post she noted that even highly acclaimed films such as Udaan, Lootera, The Lunchbox, Masaan and October struggled at the box office despite international praise.
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Nishaanchi features Aaishvary in a double role, alongside Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra.
