Actress normally like to be known as super sensuous hot models or angels who have fallen from the skies. They love to present themselves as the best looking people around and highly glamorous. There are actresses who left some good projects because they did not like the costumes even though the pay and character are good. But few actresses who became glam dolls and eye-candies did try their hand in de-glamour roles. Let’s see some of them from recent memory.
Tamanna – AbhinetriTamanna Bhatia did not shy away from being the seductress of screen. But when she got an opportunity to look completely de-glam avatar, she did not shy away too. In the movie, Abhinetri, she plays a village women who is possesed by a film actor’s devil, who is highly glamorous. In both the roles, she did her best to deliver a convincing performance.
Anushka – BaahubaliAnushka Shetty in Baahubali – The Beginning, acted in a complete de-glamour look as old Devasena. One couldn’t believe her to be our own Jejemma.
Sanjjana – Dandupalyam 2The actress went to the heights of de-glamour by playing a woman who goes around the city, picking up waste papers and sell them, to make a living. Still her efforts did not get huge rewards.
Radhika Apte – Raktha CharitraRadhika Apte decided to not use any make up in her film, Raktha Charitra, with Ram Gopal Verma. The movie won her many accolades from audiences for her performance.
Tamanna – BaahubaliBaahubali – The Beginning, challenged many conventions and treated both it’s heroines as characters rather than glam dolls. Even though introduction of Tamanna is done as a beautiful angel in Dhivara song, she is immediately shown as a warrior and in a de-glam look for most part of the film.
Priyamani – VillainPriyamani did act in a complete de-glamour role in Paruthiveeran, first film of Karthi in Tamil but that never released in Telugu. The actress film that released in Telugu and where did not use any make up is Villain, in Mani Ratnam’s direction.
Ritika Singh – GuruIn Guru, Ritika Singh acted as a woman who sells vegetables and then becomes a boxing champion, with the help of her coach. Through out the film, she did not use much make-up.
Samantha Akkineni – RangasthalamSamantha Akkineni got recognised as Apple Beauty, Jessie and a woman who is loved by an house-fly. Such a beauty is now trying a complete ku different character as Rama lakshmi in her next film, Rangasthalam. Let’s see how see performs in this new role on 30th March.
