Director Anil Sharma, known for delivering the superhit film Gadar, recently opened up about casting Ameesha Patel as Sakina in the franchise. He revealed that he cast Patel in the film because she looked pretty.
In a conversation with Vickey Lalwani for his YouTube channel, the filmmaker stated, “I decided to cast her because she was pretty, she wasn’t a very good performer, but she learnt it, and she worked hard for it, and she worked for 6 months to become Sakina.”
The 66-year-old filmmaker also reacted to Ameesha’s claim that Gadar 2’s story, which was initially narrated to her, had a climax where both her character Sakina and Tara went to Pakistan, but it was changed at the last moment.
Saying that everyone is free to share their opinion, Anil said, “Which actor doesn’t want to increase their screen time, but it wasn’t possible in our story. Also, she signed the film after reading the whole story.”
Gadar 2 was released in 2023 and went on to create history at the box office by collecting Rs 686 crore worldwide. The film stars Sunny Deol as Tara Singh.
