From Biopic To Family Drama: Suriya 46 Takes A New Turn

Suriya is teaming up with director Venky Atluri for his 46th film a heartwarming family drama that focuses on emotions and human values.

Known for his intense roles in recent biopics like Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim, Suriya will be seen in a lighter more grounded role this time.

Director Venky Atluri recently shared that the film was originally planned as a biopic on Sanjay Gandhi and the creation of the Maruti car.

However, due to delays in getting the rights and Suriya already doing back-to-back biopics, they decided to change the story.

Atluri pitched a fresh, feel-good family story to Suriya, despite not having the climax ready, and Suriya agreed immediately.

The film began shooting in June 2025 and stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. Atluri described the movie as a “proper happy family film” and added that Suriya’s character will remind fans of his role as Sanjay Ramaswamy in Ghajini.
