Sankranthi is the best season for Telugu Films as many from villages would love to watch films after harvesting their crops. The movies that deal with emotions do hit jackpot during this season. For some years the telugu heroes stopped trying to take advantage of the season which lead to many epic showdowns like Narasimha Naidu vs Mrugaraju vs Devi Putrudu. Who gets maximum theatres? Which hero will hit the BB and whose film will win the race ultimately? These used to be the very interesting topics and fights. Again last year, with four films releasing one after the other on each day made the film lovers double happy.
Soggade Chinni Nayana, Nannaku Prematho, Dictator, Express Raja graced the theatres and Nannaku Prematho and Soggade Chinni Nayana won the race. In the long run Nag’s film proved to be the winner. In OS markets Nannaku Prematho became a big blockbuster being the first film to score 2M dollars for Jr. NTR. Now again, four films are likely to release for Sankranthi 2017. While 3 of them confirmed their stand, 4th one is yet to announce it officially but the makers are denying the possibility. Three films are Gautamiputra Satakarni, Khaidi No.150, Sathamanam Bhavati. Fourth that has been long said to be a Sankranthi release and likely to confirm is Nag and K Raghavendra Rao’s devotional epic, Om Namo Venkatesaya.
Already, with Khaidi No.150 the stakes are at 80-100cr range, Balayya’s 100th Gautamiputra Satakarni has also done a business of upto 65 to 75 crs and Sharwanand’s Sathamanam Bhavati produced by Dil Raju is said to have stakes upto 15 to 20 crores. If Om Namo Venkatesaya adds to the list then the total could increase by another 25 crores. But it will be interesting to see Senior heroes fighting it out in the Sankranthi Race and hopefully all of them win, but who will be your pick?
