Amar Sneh, who wrote, directed, and starred in the historical Somalian film “The Somali Darvish,” is facing health problems.

Sneh, 70, is straining to make ends meet in a leased home in the Gohar subdivision’s Dal hamlet, about 30 kilometres from Mandi.
Amar Sneh, the actor and director, lamented that he is a forgotten star who receives no help from anyone when he is trying to satisfy his basic necessities, either from the film business or the government, when IANS got in touch with him.

He claimed that Pandit Sukh Ram, a late veteran Congress leader and former Union telecom minister who was from Mandi town, had given him the go-ahead to establish a film city in Himachal Pradesh.
“The political rivalry between the two Congress stalwarts Sukh Ram and Virbhadra Singh had put the film city concept into cold storage,” Amar Sneh said, adding “I also met the late Virbhadra Singh several times when he was the Chief Minister and he assured me of government help in setting up an acting school.”
Sneh, who has appeared in numerous movies like “Sister,” “Cinema-Cinema,” “Amman,” “Saiyan Magan Pahelwani Mein,” and “Jan-E- Alam,” established the Sneh Film Institution in Mandi town during this time.
Because to his difficult financial situation, Amar Sneh, a Doordarshan-approved commentator who provided commentary for 150 films and programmes, moved into a Small apartment provided by one of his supporters and now provides free acting instruction to youngsters in the surrounding villages.
He experienced paralysis in the lower half of his body in 2021.
At least 17 plays have been written and directed by Sneh, including the well-known dramas Shoonya, Kavita Kahani Ke Beech, and Paravartan.
Despite his popularity, the actor claims that the film business has forgotten about him despite the fact that he directed one of the most well-known Somalian English movies, “The Somali Darvish,” which had multilingual performers from 16 different countries.
He said, “Marne ke baad meri laash ko natak me istemal kar liya jaye (After my death, my body should be utilised in a drama)”.
According to local social activist Hem Singh Thakur, Sneh’s health declined following his second Covid-19 vaccine.
“There are many health problems. He needs proper medical examination. He needs financial help too for his day-to-day expenses,” he said.
“Before death, Amar Sneh-ji wants to contribute to society by sharing his versatile experience with the youth,” Thakur, a journalist-turned-activist, added.
On Thursday, Sneh received assurances of financial support from the government from a team from the district administration led by Subdivisional Magistrate Raman Sharma.

Sneh was overjoyed to see the official crew show up at his door and claimed that only in Himachal Pradesh could all of this be accomplished.
Sneh gave the SDM a copy of his book of short stories. He also composed a heartfelt poem on this occasion.
