For movie Darr, Shah Rukh Khan tells how he improved his stutter. Kirron

Shah Rukh Khan discussed how he prepared for his role in Darr in the much hyped Netflix docuseries The Romantics. The Romantics, a highly anticipated Netflix documentary series that pays homage to Yash Chopra’s legacy, YRF, and its cultural influence on India and Indians over the past 50 years, was released yesterday to rousing praise. Shah Rukh Khan, a global megastar, discusses how he honed his stammer in Darr and discloses how he used to test out wild ideas in order to nail his villainous role in the Yash Chopra movie in the docuseries.

Srk narrates, “I had a classmate who had a stammer and then we did some little study, some BBC documentary where they talked about that people’s minds become aware to one sound, and it’s like a sharp current. So, you can’t say the word because you become aware of a sound. Let’s make him aware of the woman he loves the most, her name. So, I only stammer on the word Kiran. It was just for that one word because he’s so aware of her.”

Further he tells, “I had some really fantastically stupid ideas, like I remember once going to Adi and saying, can I make this phone call hanging upside down? Adi said ‘Dad won’t allow that.’ Sometimes he would come and tell me that listen I think dad is not going to take a close up of this. I think you did very well. So, you suggest, if I do it, he’ll turn me down. So, we were like the filters who kind of help each other with Yash Ji.”

The mega-stars and idols of Hindi cinema, including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma, have gathered to discuss Yash Chopra and YRF’s contribution to Indian cinema in The Romantics.

35 prominent film industry figures who have intimately collaborated with YRF throughout the course of its 50-year history will also be featured in this four-part docuseries on Netflix.

It’s interesting to note that the secretive Aditya Chopra, president of the legendary Yash Raj Films, has also taped his first on-camera interview for “The Romantics”! For the film community, cinephiles, and the general Hindi movie public, his insights regarding YRF and the Hindi film industry in this docu-series are a great highlight.

Some of the most successful films in Indian cinema, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, War, Sultan, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Mohabbatein, and the Dhoom trilogy, have been produced by YRF.
