Following RRR’s significant Oscar 2023 victory, Vivek Agnihotri expressed his happiness at the success of non-Bollywood films.

RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, just made history by being the first Indian production to win an Oscar. Apart from RRR, a number of other Indian movies, notably The Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri, were anticipated to compete for academy honours. Vivek Agnihotri said he is pleased to see non-Bollywood cinema succeed after RRR’s significant win for its original track Natu Natu at the Oscars 2023 and The Elephant Whisperers winning an award for Best Documentary.

The Best Original Song award at the 95th Academy Awards went to RRR’s Natu Natu. MM Keeravaani, who also gave an impassioned address at the star-studded event, accepted the award. In addition, The Elephant Whisperer won the prize for the best documentary short movie.

The filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has constantly supported and promoted Indian cinema. At the celebration of Indian cinema, the director expressed his delight at the success of Indian films. In an interview, Agnihotri praised Deepika Padukone for presenting a segment at the award event and emphasised the triumph of Indian films at the Oscars in 2023.

Vivek Agnihotri said, “It’s a great time for Indian cinema. Starting with our film The Kashmir Files, which caught the attention of the global audience, followed up with RRR’s unprecedented success, two documentaries and an Oscar for The Elephant Whisperers and Deepika Padukone presenting a segment at Oscars.” He further stressed upon the importance of regional cinema and said, “I am particularly happy that non-Bollywood star oriented cinema is now being replaced with real Indian Cinema.”

The filmmaker hoped that all the regional cinema in the country would soon come under one category, Indian cinema, and it will be used as “our strongest one.”
