Film “Blind” Finds no Taker on OTT Due to High Price

The Zoya Factor, a 2019 movie, was Sonam Kapoor’s most recent appearance on a large screen. Since then, the celebrity who always made a statement with her wardrobe has vanished from the screen. However, Sonam has been eager to return to the film industry following the birth of her child, with the official remake of the 2011 Korean film Blind. The movie was originally scheduled to hit theatres in 2022, but pandemic limitations forced a postponement. The creators of Blind decided for an OTT release after this, but it appears that the project has been in difficulty ever since. The Sonam-starring film Blind has now experienced another delay.

According to rumour, the producers of Blind are having trouble attracting viewers for the movie on OTT platforms. According to a reliable source in the business, Blind was originally intended for a theatrical run, but owing to the pandemic, it was decided to put the movie directly on OTT. The movie’s OTT release is currently having trouble finding buyers, even though the theatrical release is still just a formality. The source continues, “The producers of Blind are attempting to sell the picture for a whopping Rs. 40 cr., further elaborating on the problem the movie confronts. The market’s OTT players are staying away because of this exorbitant asking price. Although the movie’s theatrical release schedule will continue, it is essentially just a formality before it is sold to any streaming provider. However, the release of Blind appears to be in limbo as there isn’t an OTT platform willing to fork over Rs. 40 crore to acquire the project.

The source continues, “The producers of Blind have quoted an astounding Rs. 40 cr. for streaming rights of the initiative, which helps to explain why OTT platforms are having misgivings about the project. Unfortunately, according to streaming platforms, paying such a sum of money today would be unsafe. Basically, neither the creators of Blind are willing to lower their asking price nor are streaming services willing to spend that much money on acquisition. Given this, Blind is undoubtedly in a bind.

It is yet unknown how Blind will be released, and it is also unknown whether a theatrical release will be secured for the movie. Regarding the movie, Blind, production began in Glasgow, Scotland in December 2020 and was finished on time in February 2021. The developers ultimately decided on a theatrical release even though a direct-to-OTT release was initially anticipated. However, for unclear reasons, they reverted to their initial strategy of forgoing a theatrical release.

A blind police officer is on the hunt for a serial killer in the movie Blind, an official remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name. Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey are also featured in the film, which is directed by Shome Makhija, a first-timer.
