Fatima Sana Shaikh who made her debut with Dangal has opened up about her casting couch experience in South films.
In an interview Fatima shared her personal experience. She recalled an incident where a casting agent kept making inappropriate remarks.
“He asked me, You will be ready to do everything, right? I told him I would work hard and do what is needed for the role,” she said. However the agent kept repeating the same thing. “I acted dumb to see how far he would go,” she added.
Fatima also revealed that when she was in Hyderabad, some small-time producers indirectly suggested she should compromise to get roles. Even recently, someone from the South film industry contacted her and asked if she was willing to “do everything” for a role.
She further said that in Mumbai some casting directors exploit newcomers by demanding a percentage of their earnings in return for references.
