Rakul Preet Singh has been one of the flag bearers of the new revolution in Telugu Cinema where heroines are being looked equal to the actors in the films. The actresses are also getting good offers with characters written for them and remunerations increasing exponentially compared to the earlier days. The actress spoke about the rise in the remunerations of the actresses and her take on the equality factor that several actresses have been asking for.
The actress said, “I am happy with the current structure and I can see the change is happening. Nothing can change overnight. Women have been looked down for ages and things won’t change just like that. There are times when women looking out of the window is considered as unethical and today, we are talking about opportunities and lack of them. We need to understand that the change will come but we need to give it time as well. The opportunities are aplenty today and we can take about equal salary too in time.”
She continued, “I think we can discuss about the equal pay when the movies run solely due to actresses. That day should come and then, our demands won’t sound outlandish to the people as they say these days. We have to wait and patiently navigate all the negative light to find the positivity. We all need to give people the time and also keep ourselves realistic at every time.” The actress is now doing Aiyaary, a film with Suriya in Tamil.
