Shraddha Kapoor is all set to play the role of Marathi folk legend Vithabai Narayangaonkar in the upcoming film Eetha. The teaser of the film has already been released and is getting a good response.
Eetha produced by Maddock Films, is based on the life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a famous Tamasha and Lavani performer. The film shows her much long journey from the 1940s to the 1990s highlighting how she became one of most respected folk artists.
Vithabai was born in 1935 in Maharashtra and started performing at a very much young age. She became famous for her powerful dance, expressive storytelling and singing.
She was honored as “Tamasha Samradni” and also received Presidential awards. Despite her fame she later faced financial struggles and passed away in poverty which was very painful.
The film is directed by Laxman Utekar and will release on August 28, 2026.
