Superstar Rajinikanth’s “Jailer,” movie has delighted his numerous fans with a resounding success at the box office. The movie has triumphed not only in Tamil Nadu but also across Telugu states, Karnataka, Kerala, and even overseas, raking in impressive profits for both the creators and distributors.
However, there’s a recent disappointing revelation concerning the film’s early release on an OTT platform. Reports suggest that the makers of “Jailer” have inked a four week deal with the renowned OTT platform Netflix, intending to begin streaming from September 7th.
If these rumours hold true, this decision could potentially undermine the film’s prolonged theatrical run, a strategic misstep that may hamper its box office performance. It’s evident that the filmmakers should have assessed the film’s reception before finalizing the OTT release date.
In the meantime, “Jailer” has already achieved a remarkable feat at the box office. The top three highest-grossing films in the Kollywood industry now comprise “2.0,” followed by “Ponniyin Selvan 1,” with “Jailer” poised to surpass the latter’s earnings of around 500 crore. The movie is on track to secure the second position, trailing just behind “2.0.” Notably, the Tamil version of “Jailer” has shattered records, boasting unprecedented collections in its first week.
