Dulquer And Rana Recreate The Magic Of 1950s Cinema

Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming film Kaantha has been creating massive buzz ahead of its release.

Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and produced by Dulquer along with Rana, the film is described by them as a “rare cinematic celebration”. It also stars Rana, Samuthirakani and Bhagyashree Borse in important roles.

Rana revealed that Kaantha is a fictional story inspired by the 1950s film industry exploring the rivalry between two passionate artists striving for perfection. To recreate that era, he took valuable inputs from his father, Suresh Babu.

The team went to great lengths for authenticity, sourcing vintage equipment used in classics like Patala Bhairavi and hiring hand painting artists for posters.

Cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez, known for Mahanati, added a grand visual appeal. Dulquer and Rana said their shared love for cinema inspired them to back Selvamani’s vision. Kaantha releases worldwide on November 14th.
