Srikanth was arrested by the Chennai Police on June 24th in connection with a narcotics case. The arrest followed a major lead during the investigation, where police earlier detained T. Prasad, a member of the AIADMK IT wing.
Prasad allegedly supplied banned drugs to Srikanth. During his interrogation police reportedly found evidence linking the actor to the drug network.
Srikanth was taken into custody and questioned for over 9 hours. During this time a blood sample was collected which later tested positive for narcotic substances. This further strengthened the case against him.
Following the arrest he was taken for a medical check-up at Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. He was then produced before Magistrate Dhayalan at his residence in Egmore, Chennai.
Advocate Vignesh Ramanadhan represented him in court. After the hearing, Srikanth was remanded to judicial custody until July 7th as the investigation continues.
